Simple and Effective Yoga Asanas

Yoga is a mind and body practice that originated in India thousands of years ago. It is a great way to improve your flexibility, strength, and overall health. There are many different types of yoga, but some of the most simple and effective asanas (poses) include

Mountain Pose (Tadasana):  Stand up straight with your feet hip-width apart and your arms at your sides. Press your feet down into the ground and lift your chest up. Keep your spine long and your shoulders relaxed. This pose helps to improve your posture and balance.

Cat-Cow Pose (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana):  Start on your hands and knees with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Inhale and arch your back like a cat, tucking your chin towards your chest. Exhale and round your back like a cow, dropping your head towards the ground. Repeat this sequence 5-10 times.

Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana): Start on your hands and knees with your hands under your shoulders and your knees under your hips. Inhale and straighten your legs, lifting your hips up towards the ceiling. Keep your back straight and your core engaged. Hold for 5-10 breaths.

Child's Pose (Balasana):  Start on your hands and knees. As you exhale, sit back on your heels and fold your torso over your thighs. Rest your forehead on the ground and relax your arms by your sides. Hold for 5-10 breaths.
